Utah elopement photographer captures couple walking through flooded salt flats in wedding attire

The Bonneville Salt Flats has become one of the most Epic locations for engagements and elopements. Most people think the Salt Flats always has the white salt textured look year round. Nope:) Actually the Salt Flats has seasons and is changing with the different seasons. This wedding was after the new years and since there was a recent rain & snow storm the Salt Flats were flooded. You sometimes will see flooding in the Winter & early Spring. This year Utah received a lot of moisture and made for the unique flooded wedding look. J&P loved the idea of the flooded salt flats and the rare situation were definitely excited for their wedding. Throughout their intimate wedding day were moments of celebration, love, and a visit to the tattoo shop. J&P’s day was an absolute dream to photograph.

Getting Ready at Hotel Monaco

First, J&P got ready for their wedding at Hotel Monaco with their closest friends and family. This hotel was perfect for getting ready & all the important detail shots. The bride wore a sequence dress from Salt Gowns and looked absolutely stunning in it! She paired with wedding white short boots to complement the dress. The groom wore an all black that really pops against the stark flooded Bonneville Salt Flats. The couple rented a party bus to take the wedding party easily all together to the Salt flats.

An Intimate Ceremony at a Bonneville Salt Flats Wedding

While Groom walked down the aisle, the water on the Salt Flats was just enough to provide some incredible depth and reflection. Such a unique and interesting change to a typical desert environment. After J&P two worlds became one, the couple continued on with a tradition they’ve shared for years. Throughout their relationship, every Friday the 13th J&P head to the tattoo shop to get new tattoos. After celebrating their Bonneville Salt Flats wedding, J&P invited guests to join in on the tradition.

Altogether the wedding party went to the tattoo shop to get tattoos. I definitely tagged along to experience this epic tradition and had a blast with my couple. Nevertheless J&P had an incredible day and are sure to remember this Friday the 13th for years to come.
